FAQs
OverShield! No, just kidding. Honestly it's about use case and experience level. While OverShield is ideal for DIY quick applications and is extremely impressive performance wise, it's not perfect for every situation.
For instance, 7-10 year coatings layer on much thicker and will last much longer. But this also means they are less forgiving and require more experience to apply correctly.
Most importantly though, they can't be removed very quickly, so it's best to do any paint correction and make sure you have no scratches before applying, otherwise you are locking in the imperfections and it will require a lot of effort to correct them out in the future.
This is why we don't offer anything more "durable" than OverShield. It's thin but very hard, which means it's protective and performs really well, but the right abrasive compound could tear through it fairly quickly (don't worry, nothing else will) if you wanted to do paint correction.
But in itself, paint correction is difficult, expensive, and (worth it, but) time consuming. So if you want it done before, you might as well go with a professional heavy duty coating afterwards, applied by an experienced detailer... But if you don't want to spend a tone of cash on that, OverShield is still great for this and we're here for you.
Short answer, no. Ceramic and graphene coating are extremely resistant to chemicals (low and high pH), and no car care product will react with these coatings. Only abrasion (physical contact) will cut down on a coating in the short term.
Our 60ml bottle contains enough graphene-ceramic coating to cover as much as one large SUV. While we have seen small sports cars that only require about half of a bottle, it's rare to get more than one car (and wheels) out of it. If you have multiple small cars to cover, we recommend a bottle per car to be thorough. Follow our tutorial for efficient applications.
Absolutely. Of course, do your due diligence, watch the tutorial, follow each step, and take your time. But this is honestly the easiest coating you'll ever apply. It's incredibly forgiving and easy to level out. Just make sure to avoid major mistakes like not applying enough to the area, forgetting to wipe it off, letting it bake in the hot sun, or doing it outside with wind and debris flying everywhere. In doors with proper ventilation (or a mask) is ideal, but as you'll see that's not always critical in the right weather and situation.
Pro Tip: If you do make one of these mistakes, simply clean the area, re-apply the coating and re-level the surface and you should be good to go.
